Philadelphia Oktoberfest Festivals

Summer has come and gone and Autumn is finally here. That means in Philadelphia, it is officially Oktoberfest season. In the next five weeks, there will be dozens of Oktoberfest celebrations throughout the city. This past Summer, Philadelphia has seen some amazing festivals and beer gardens...and this Fall will surely bring much of the same. Some of the festivals will be free entrance and pay as you go while some will be ticketed. Here is a list of the more notable festivals that will be going on in Philly:

Brauhaus Schmitz Oktoberfest
One of the highly anticipated Oktoberfests is the Brauhaus Schmitz which will be going all out with a week of German-inspired events that will end with a huge block party in {mls: Queen Village, Society Hill, Bella Vista}. The festival will begin on September 15th and go on till the 21st. The German beer hall will host a variety of German beer specials and giveaways all week long that will lead into the 6th Annual Oktoberfest on September 20th in {mls: Queen Village, Society Hill, Bella Vista}. Be prepared to consume over 2,000 pounds of pork and sausage in order to try and break last year's record of pork consumption! The beer hall will be tapping its exclusive Traunstein Oktoberfest beer along with nine other notable German brews. The festival will be free to attend and pay as you go basis. Make sure you make your way to this always fantastic festival for some good eats, live music, dancing and competitions. 
Frankford Hall’s Oktoberfest
One of the largest Oktoberfest festivals will be happening at {mls: Fishtown, Northern Liberties} popular beer garden on Saturday, September 20th! It will be a day long block party on Frankford Ave from Girard Ave to Shackamaxon St. There will be tents with different styles of German beers and German food such as bauerwurst, bratwurst, Bavarian pretzels and much more. There will be live music, carnival games, German dancing among other activities. This has always been a must attend event year every since the opening of Frankford Hall. The event will be free to enter and pay as you go basis.
PHS Fall festival at the Navy Yard
On the more family friendly festivals will be this year's PHS Fall Festival. On Saturday, September 20 come out and celebrate that start of autumn at the Navy Yard. There will be a host of family-friendly fun including harvest market featuring local produce, The PHS Kids Zone where youngsters can participate in games, crafts, and activities. There will be a “Garden Giant” demonstration where local growers will showcase their oversized tomatoes, pumpkins and other giant goodies for a panel of judges. There will be a market place where they will be featuring plants, tools, garden accessories and home decor. For the adults there will be a beer garden from Yards Brewing Co. and Franklin Flea will be bringing their vintage and handmade items from local vendors to the site. Cost will be free to enter and pay as you go.
